Swimming Pools

Alba Pools offer pools to suit all types of markets, from basic domestic fun pools, exercise pools, stunning spa pools, research and hydro therapy pools to high specification commercial grade competition swimming pools. Our in house design team can guide you through the selection process.

Swimming Pool Options...

Pool designs: Skimmer or Deck Level

Deck Level - This pool design has the pool water is level with the surrounding deck with the water continuously flowing over the edge of the pool into a drainage channel around the perimeter. This is possibly the best pool design on the market today. It provides by far the most efficient method of water circulation. This design is frequently found in modern commercial and semi commercial swimming pools and higher end private pools.

Skimmer - This pool design means that the water level is approximately 6" (150mm) below the level of the surrounding deck. The skimmer/s are fitted into the wall/s of the pool. They are designed to continually skim the top of the water to keep the surface clean. The top can be finished with either a cope or edge tile.

This type of pool design is sometimes also known as freeboard.

Pool floor type/water depth: This can be either constant depth, sloping or hopper type. Water depth/s can usually be according to personal preference.

Pool construction: Sprayed concrete or concrete block pools; stainless steel pools; panel pools in structural polymer or steel; GRP one piece pools; timber frame pools

Concrete - Sprayed concrete, Gunite or Shotcrete, both methods involve spraying the concrete mix into a reinforced steel cage. This very flexible construction method allows virtually any shape of pool to be created.

Concrete block pools can, depending on pool size, be either single block or a two skin block construction. The latter having steel reinforcing bars in between the skins and wet concrete poured to fill the cavity.

Panel pools come in a variety of materials eg. stainless steel, galvanised steel and structural polymer. This type of pool can offer significant advantages over more traditional construction methods with major savings on construction costs.

For the ultimate in style, strength and function, we offer Stainless steel pools. These can be supplied in either deck level or skimmer designs. The pool finish can be satin or polished stainless steel or it can have a heavy duty vinyl lining applied. Ceramic tiles can also be applied at water level.

The Proteus Ceramica is a pre lined modular galvanised steel panel pool system which can also be supplied in either deck level or skimmer design. A stunning feature vanishing edge can also be incorporated.

One Piece Pools of GRP and Ceramic materials ensure a very speedy and relatively simple pool installation. The pools shell comes pre-fitted with all necessary equipment. Once delivered it is simply lowered into position, plumbed and finished. Though available in many sizes and with many features, limitations are largely due to site access and size selection.

Timber framed Pools are now widely available. They provide an economic but far more durable alternative to mass produced above ground fun pools. These pools can be particularly effective when combined with garden decking.

Pool finishes: Tile, Marblite, Stainless Steel, PVC Liner, Special Paints

Pool Water Treatment: Chlorine, Ozone, Ultra violet, Salt Chlorination, Active Oxygen and other Non Chlorine Sanitisers.

Pool Heating Systems: Electric, Gas, Oil, Solar, Geo Thermal.

Air Handling/Dehumidification Systems...

This is an important consideration for indoor pools and may have a significant effect on costs.
Alba Pools can supply everything from basic wall-mounted dehumidifiers to complete environmental control systems which incorporate dehumidification and air handling with heat recovery including both pool water and air heating.
